Anybody have a good experience with nearby, reasonably priced apartments?

Thanks!

Yes - but it was quite a while ago. However, the places my wife and I lived in in the 1970s are still in use today. D1 lives in a house now nearby FSU but it is not as nice as the apartments we lived in were.

Initially, I would suggest visiting along the western side of campus. There are lots of apartments - new ones, too - that look well kept. All are within easy walking distance of campus.

Note that when I say "easy walking distance" this is for active people, not the couch potato types (sorry, I know it sounds mean - but too many people are waaay out of shape today even as young people. Walking is great exercise. ;) ).

I would suggest avoiding the older apartments as many were built in the 1960s. Energy was cheap back then and things were not as well insulated in that era. Newer apartments would be better insulated and also have some provision for high-speed Internet already installed.

The high-rise apartments across from Osceola Hall look quite nice.

My son was talking about sharing a house with three friends too. I was trying to find out what other apartment options might be preferable.

D1's house is not maintained as well as the dorms nor larger apartment complexes. That's one aspect I'm not pleased about. There is so much demand for housing the landlords get away with lax maintenance.
