Apartment Recommendations

So here's my situation:
I cannot share a room with someone. From all those experiences with school trips in hotels and college dorms, I know my OCD would kick into high gear as soon as someone touched my stuff. So, I'm assuming my options are:

-Single room on campus
-Lakeside apartments on campus
-Off campus apartment

And now the questions:
(1) What are the chances of getting a single room as a freshman?
(2) How much does the distance from lakeside to the center of campus affect becoming a part of the community?
(3) What are some good off, but close to, campus apartments? I've been told the University House is pretty sweet but what are some other ones with the monthly rent not exceeding $650?
(4) What is your opinion on motorized scooters...like a Vespa?

oh and...names of bad apartment places i should avoid at all costs...would also be awesome

if you end up having to share a room, it may end up being a good learning experience for you. After all if you plan on getting married you will have to learn to deal with living with someone other than yourself.

I told you! Uhouse!

Okay eyyjordan...
I have issues sharing a room with another girl...who is more likely to pick up my hairbrush/shampoo/other personal item and use it on herself.
So at the moment, I'd rather not deal with it.

jasoninpines
i'm going to tour it when i go down there in march. (assuming i get in!)

jasoninpines (again)
how much do the actual apartments resemble the ones in the online photo gallery? do they provide all the fancy dancey furniture?

i didn't mean to be condescending, i guess being a guy, i have never had to deal with that sort of thing.
