hey. does anyone have experience with searching for apartments over summer? all the apartments that I'm looking at begin lease in June and I don't want to pay for months that I wont be here. subletting is an option i guess, but its not guaranteed and it seems like a risk. I'm looking to move in sometime after the start of august.

find out what your planned roommates intend to do this summer first.

how hard is it to get someone to sublet?

888888888: i dont know thats what im wondering

I’m scared it’s almost summer school i need housing.

The place I currently live began leasing in August. Last July, I scrambled to find housing just for myself. It was a bit rough in that I didn’t have a lot of time and options (especially since I was staying at home in LA). But in June and July, there should be an okay amount of August housing but not with as many options than with June (since it’s a more popular month to start leasing). I will be in the struggle with you to find August housing too, so you are not alone.

im looking for june housing. for summer lol

sparetire: where did you find housing and how much was it?

I went on craigslist to search and called the ad posters to set up meetings for the weekend my parents could take me. It’s really stressful trying to find an apartment when you’re from So Cal. I hope you live much closer to more opportunities in coming any day/weekend to Berkeley. I currently live in a studio for $1000 with utilities minus cable/internet.

if you don’t mind telling is the location close to north or south side?

Southside (15 minutes from the south part of campus). I wish I could live on Northside, but my parents’ checkbooks don’t agree.

whoa that sounds really far

It ain’t Foothill or Unit 3, but it’s not far compared to living down on MLK or next to Berkeley Bowl. It’s not realistic to live one block away from campus since there are so many other people to compete against. shrugs I’m from LA, so I thought it was far at first, but it’s a routine for me now.

yea im gonna be having the same problem too cause im also from LA
