Are there any good apartments in ASU that is really close to campus and relatively nice? Im looking to spend $800-$1200 for a 2 bed room apartment. Let me know if you guys know of any good and/or popular ones. Thanks!

just saw this thread.be back to answer you tomorrow, todays S's HS graduation.D is an ASU grad (05) and lived off campus 2 years. There's lots of availability dont panic.for that price range you'll do well, caneven rent a house!

Have just completed helping my ASU sophomore daughter find a 2BR / 2Ba apartment in Tempe. It was not an easy task and took 3 days of all-day driving, phoning, checking online ratings and reviews. You don't say where you live now and your profile gives no clue.

You should look NOW for an apartment, in person if a local and by phone if not. The closer you are to the campus, the (mostly) older the complexes are and rents are higher. The complexes near campus will be populated mostly by students.

I first checked two apartment review/ratings sites and phoned the highly rated places. This quickly turned into an exercise in futility as not one of them had availability. D tried a couple of apartment locator places and had no luck, which surprised me as I've found apartments using that method before.

Meanwhile D and her roommate drove around, both together and separately, for 2 days. On the 3rd day the 2 moms helped and after looking at complexes separately all morning, we went to top choices in the afternoon and made a decision at about 3pm.

You will definitely be able to find an apartment in your price range. One thing I strongly suggest is that you "google" Tempe crime apartments, and look at the local police department Crime Analysis Unit annual reports of calls answered at apartment complexes. I would want to avoid complexes that have too many burglary, loud noise, vehicle theft reports.

Many complexes have ads online, with floorplans, photos, etc. Decide what's important to you (D wanted washer and dryer inside the apartment, which turned out to eliminate many places and complexes older than about 10 years). Then make phone calls to check availability. Many ASU students commute by bicycle, so anyplace within a mile or two of the campus would work. Remember temps. around here stay above 100 every day until at least Sept. 15th, often even til Oct. 1st. You can "map" any address to see where it's located.

Most of the above is just common sense. You need to look immediately to find an apartment for mid-August when ASU classes start. You will have to undergo a credit and criminal background check as part of the "application" process. Good luck!

I'm not sure getting an apt. right near the school is a great idea. Go further south. The apartments are nice, have a sprinkling of college students rather than being innundated with them and they don't have the reputations that some of the apt. complexes have near the school like "You can get VD just by swimming in the pool at _______ apartments."

Many ASU students eventually start flocking south the longer they are at the school.

Try around Baseline, Guadalupe and Elliot roads. It's south of the school and not nearly as congested because it's away from downtown.

The suggestion of the person who said to check crime stats and stats w/the Police is a good tip. Car thefts are huge here and getting crime statistics regarding certain apt. complexes might help your peace of mind.

Some things are misleading though. There was a murder yesterday in a complex just 2 complexes West of mine in a very nice gated community. It was a domestic thing and it's not typical of what usually happens there.

Good luck.

I know there is some availability at the Palms on Scottsdale, which is ~2 miles North of campus on Scottsdale Road (Which is Rural Rd Sout of the 202). www.thepalmsonscottsdale.com

They are nice, but pricey. Good luck!

I second The Palms with the kind of money you are willing to pay. Definately look into south scottsdale (tempe/scottsdale border). The are some nice places that are 5 to 10 minutes from asu. very convenient and I nice part of town.

Yeah I live in oregon, its hard trying to find a good place using only the internet. I heard there is a big roach problem in most apartments.

I know it is a little late for this post, but my friend and I lived at Rancho Las Palmas Apartments in Tempe. Great apartments and very affordable. You can check out their floor plans at:

I just got done with this process, and finding a place that meets your needs, and you budget can be challenging. Tempe has some VERY VERY upscale places and some VERY not upscale places. Luckily, there is a variety. I would checkout this listing [Apartments Near ASU : The Best Place For Apartments, Condos, and Houses Near Arizona State University](http://www.rentintempe.com/apartments-near-asu) of Apartments Near ASU. They have each place listed, the ammenities, and distance from ASU.

If you have a vehicle, I would definitely consider Elliot and Southern roads as there are some great apartments there. I lived in Copper Creek apartments prior to attending ASU and I enjoyed my experience there a lot.
I visited Rancho Murietta when I was searching and it was beautiful and still in walking distance of ASU (around 15mins). The electric/utility bills were just too high for me though, but they are in your budget I believe!
I live in the best apartments that I could find within walking distance to ASU. (The Crossroads Apartments) but my other two recommendations are much better. I don’t have a roach problem like every place located near ASU (even ASU dorms have roaches sometimes) but I do have a water bug problem.

I suggest searching the business name with the Better Business Bureau if you don’t want to get screwed over either.

Broadway and university near McClintock have some reasonable apartments tucked away.
