anyone know any apartments near UCLA that are nice and included with utilities? because I will be going to UCLA tomorrow to look around so I wanna know what apartments I should look for around the area and im looking to spend between $1200 to $1500 per month for housing.

Are you looking to live by yourself?

Most of the apartments near UCLA are stand-alone so they don’t have websites (or even names sometimes). Most also do not include utilities (not all, anyway). You might not be able to get a tour but there are a bunch of ‘Renting Now’ signs with numbers you should jot down. I’d suggest you look around Veteran Ave, Kelton Ave, Levering Ave, Landfair Ave, and the couple blocks that neighbor these streets (Google Map it). There are rows apartments after apartments which makes finding one pretty easy.

none of them are nice. tolerable, at best, but not nice.

I second what edelynly said, you have to go walk around the area if you want to find apartments right next to the school.

Attending UCLA’s new student orientation in August. Going with family; any suggestions for nice hotels around UCLA? UCLA Guest House is not available.

try couchsurfing

For hotel lodging try Tiverton House. Also affiliated with UCLA. Walking distance, free parking, right next to Ralph’s on Le Conte. Just stayed there for a weekend and will be staying there for graduation in a few weeks. Just google it. Best rates for walking distance to UCLA. Also have stayed at Hilgard House just around the corner. More expensive but still walking distance to campus which is important. Good luck!

In regards to apartments…my daughter is a senior and lives on Roebling. She has lived on Roebling for 2 years now in 2 different apts. Her sophomore year she was on Kelton. Both very close to campus and Westwood. Last year, 2 bedroom apt/four girls, about $700 ea without utilities. This year, 3 bedroom/four girls, from $650 to $1000 each depending on if sharing bedroom or not. Most apartments are not furnished and do not include utilities. Expect to pay at least $1000 if not sharing a bedroom (in a 2 bedroom apt), at least $1800 for a one bedroom apt by yourself, maybe around $700-$900 to share a bedroom with someone in a one or two bedroom. Some apts are nice some are very run down. My daughters first apt on Roebling was terrible…dirty, run down and many things broken. Just down the street now and apt is very nice. Still older, no air conditioning. Nicer apts are available but not as close to campus. Most people want to be very close to campus. Just walk around these streets (mentioned by Edelynly) and you will see many “for rent” signs. Good luck!
