So next year my schedule is currently AP Chem, Ap English Lang and comp, ap spanish Lang, ap Calc BC, APUSH, and anatomy and physiology accl. I still have an available space in my schedule for APES, but I am afraid of the time committment necessary for this class, especially since I’m going to be really busy. Do you think that taking Env. Sci. will look good for college, or should I not risk taking the class? (I am currently taking Ap physics 1, ap bio, and ap euro and when I’m a senior I’m going to take 5 more APs). THANKS!
It’s up to you. While the school/teacher will determine the actual workload in a particular class, APES should have a much lighter workload than your other AP’s. As to whether colleges will be impressed - it depends. Top colleges want to see that you are taking the most demanding courseload possible, many top colleges do not give credit for APES. So for those colleges, it may not prove beneficial, unless it’s a course in which you are truly interested to satisfy intellectual curiosity.
You don’t need to take APES. It’s an “AP lite”, so considering the rest of your schedule, I’d suggest a fun, easy class that allows you to distinguish yourself a bit - could be speech, choir, home economics, metal work, or any type of art.
