Apes before ap bio?

So I'm a freshman taking bio honors and chem honors. I have the ability to self-study ap tests, and this year is looking to be very easy time-wise. My question is whether I can safely self study ap environmental science without ap bio and get a 4/5. I also do not want to dedicate too much time to studying, if possible, because April/may is when I am most busy with ECs.
Basically, is a major portion of apes from ap bio, or is it manageable? Thanks!

Neither one is a prerequisite for the other. AP Environmental is generally considered easier than AP Bio anyway.

True, but would having ap bio experience help significantly? I would like to self study it this year, but I’m wondering whether it makes sense to wait until ap bio… Basically, will regular biology cover the bio basics for apes, or should I take ap bio and then self study?

As far as I can tell it doesn’t have that much biology in it.

Have you taken apes?

No, I’ve just been looking at syllabi (though I have taken AP Bio). And people on here generally say APES is easier than AP Bio, though obviously it depends on the person. (I thought AP Stats was harder than AP Calculus BC, for example.)

You may have read this already, but the College Board’s course description PDF says:

<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;

I’m assuming that last part about junior or senior year is based on the fact that most people don’t take chemistry until sophomore year at the earliest.

Most of the biology-related stuff seems to deal with ecology, which my AP Bio class didn’t emphasize that much anyway. (I would suggest, though, that ecology is somewhat easier than the other stuff you do in AP Bio because it’s more of a “big picture” thing and you don’t have to know as many little details like you do with cell parts or photosynthesis/respiration.)

Thanks for clearing that up for me… I’ve always heard the traditional “take apes after ap bio,” but it seems that I could probably study it this year.
