Hi guys,
what conversions and units do I need to know for the test? I'm doing an energy primer right now released for APES Teachers and their students, but there are quite a lot of conversions I would have to memorize.

So far, I have:
1 Btu = 1055 J
1 kWh = 3.6 x 10^6 J
1 W = 1 J/s
Natural gas has heat value of 1030 Btu/ccf
1 therm = 100 ccf
1 hp = 550 ft-lbs/s

What else?

I took the APES test last year, and I found that the only conversion necessary to know was

Watt = Joule/second.

From there, you can derive that 1 Kilowatt-hour = 3,600,000 Joules.

Knowing how many joules a BTU is, or how many watts a HP is, might be interesting to know, but it will not be on the test.

yup victor… you didnt need to know any conversions onthis year’s test…
so i think you are WAY over-preparing, but I guess that’s never a badd thing
