APES vs. AP Chem

So, I'm deciding on my schedules for junior and senior year, and there are two courses whose order I'm not sure about.

I'll be taking two sciences each year; Physics 1 junior year and either Physics 2 or Physics C (depending on which is offered; right now it's Physics C, but I've heard they're thinking about Physics 2 instead) senior year. I'll also be taking AP Chem and APES, but I'm not sure what order I should take them in.

I'm taking H. Chem this year and I took H. Biology freshman year.

Which course do you think would be more beneficial for me to take junior year (also in context of internships I may want to do; I'm thinking of physics and chemical/environmental engineering ones (mainly focusing on carbon sequestration) at the moment)?

Thanks!

Also: both courses are pretty difficult at my school; AP Chem is probably harder, but APES is also considered really difficult. Both have really good teachers. So the whole junior/senior year thing doesn't particularly matter.

HEYY bae!! <3

I would start with AP Chem FIRST!! I’m taking them concurrently but I’ve noticed that my knowledge of AP Chem helps in APES… so definitely AP Chem first… APES is generally easier than AP Chem also; you’ll want chemistry stuff first.

take AP ES first. its much easier

Both are very difficult courses at my school, just saying. The APES tests are killer (not many people get As in APES), for example, while AP Chem labs are really hard.

More input would be great, by the way. I’m meeting with my counselor tomorrow (every sophomore has a meeting with their counselor to discuss junior and senior year course selections), so hopefully that’ll clear things up a bit; but I’ve heard that all the counselors do are tell you not to take more than three weighted courses (AP + Honors English 11, Honors Precalc + college classes) or hard courses (I’ll be taking either four weighted and one very time-consuming elective or five weighted).

AP Chem is probably better right after Honors Chem, so I’d say that junior year and APES as a senior. But that’s just me :)

I’m takin AP Chem this year. Last year I took honors chem. I do agree that the chemistry is fresh in my head. I barely earned a B last year, now I’m barely earning an A. It’s great!

I also took AP Enviro last year. However it is not as easy as many people say it is, at least not at my school. It is a lot of work and a lot of memorization. Especially for sciency-kids that are really sciency, they go into AP Enviro expecting an easy science class. they are in for a wakeup call when they realize there is almost no math in it and you learn it similarly to a history class.

I’ve decided to take Chem senior year; I haven’t really taken an environmental science course, so I really want to.

I’m in both, and there’s some crossover that will probably help you in Chem!! Good luck next year.
