Really, why does everyone post this stuff? How can anyone know what anyone else’s chances are unless things just seem way off (and even then…)? Just look at who got in ED and who didn’t (a very small sample btw) and see if you could predict correctly. Your application is more than just statistics…it’s how you present your interest in Cornell. These chances threads are a real waste of time. Spend the time writing your application.

I do agree with cornell75, there really is no way of knowing particularly with ivy league schools, but its good to know where you stand based on the opinion of others rather than believe “oh i have absolutely no shot” or “i’m going to be in for sure”.it kind of fills in the grey area there. I also don’t believe ED statistics are what to look at as the ED pool is significantly more competitive in the type of students that apply and who colleges such as cornell wish to take early.

I think even if you look at RD threads on accepted students, you can’t find the pattern. These schools have way more great applicants than they can possibly take as all of these schools openly admit. I don’t think it fills in the gray area at all–the opinions of other high school kids going through this process or even students at the school you are interested in are fairly meaningless. “In or waitlisted?” “Coinflip?” You have no idea what the rest of the pool looks like, what the admissions committee will see in the application, how they might be looking at the formation of the freshman class, etc.

wow…ur applying to the same major and college I applied to ED. If u demonstrated ur intrest in Human Ecology and HD, you ll have decent chances. Otherwise, you can’t get in even if u had a 2400…I have heard that Human Ec. cares more about ur interests than ur stats. I know that all Cornell colleges do this but Human Ec is prolly the one that cares about ur interest the most.
Also, they hate laundry lists of ECs so if u demonstrated ur interest in one specific field and backed it up with ur ECs, then u should be fine.
Anyways, goodluck with whatever u did…

its a small world dude, i saw your facebook, congrats on getting in man! i hope i can too…i’ve always been interested, did a neuro Intel project, worked at a psych hospital, i teach “special kids” spanish, taking a cog-neuroscience course now, we’ll see right? haha and yeah if your grade didn’t help, there is no chance mine will haha.
