so i was looking at the online gateway account to see if there were any documents i still needed to submit and the only one that showed up was the college transfer paper, i thought it was a bit weird because im applying as a freshman. so i called the admissions and apparently i guess that i checked that i had taken college classes after graduating highschool so they had me down as a transfer student, which makes no sense because im a senior, i just took some community college classes in the summer. the admissions person gave me the number for the woman who takes care of the people from my area, i called her and left her a message explaining the mistake and then i also emailed her reiterating what i said in the message just in case it didnt come out clearly. =/ i submitted my application like a week before the december deadline and this mistake has been there for over a month even though they have recieved everything else from me. am i like completly screwed now because of this huge mishap? im pretty sure theyve already looked at my app since its been such a long time =/ =/ =/

I don't think you're completely screwed...final decisions are "rolling" until April...they probably haven't made a decision on your app yet. Calm down ;).

you're not screwed. Explain it to the woman,

review ur submitted application again (not your USC gateway account) and see if you have indeed checked urself under "transfer".

The computer shouldn't just automatically assume everyone who's taken community classes at college to be transfer applicants to USC. There's a lotta seniors in high school in your position. All I can say is, don't worry and don't jump to conclusions. I personally don't think the USC gateway account is accurate, because many people (like me) can't even sign on there... it says that my USC ID and password do not match, etc.

Call and ask the admission officer yourself.

good luck!

thanks haha i faxed the admissions office a big bold letter stating that im applying as a freshman, i also am mailing them the letter tonight, and im pretty sure the admissions counsler who i left a voice mail and email with will get back to me tomorrow. i cant help stressing, its usc! <3

The computer doesn't assume that anyone with community college is a transfer. The exact wording of the question is "Have you enrolled at any college or university since high school graduation?" and thats the exact criteria they use to determine if you're a transfer or freshman applicant. So while they do a poor job of making sure that people know exactly what that checkbox means and how important it is, they don't "assume" anything.

I would make sure that when they cal you back, ask about making sure you're still good for merit scholarships, since they're supposed to start sending those out soon, and if they haven't been paying attention to your application for those, you want to make sure they pay attention now.
