<p>I applied to UPenn c/o 2015. After reading these threads, I realized that UPenn gives alot of emphasis on essays & recomms, and that is a MAJOR PROBLEM.</p>

<p>No matter how well i knew my counselor/teacher (for 4 years)... they failed to write a good recommendation. Its is VERY generic. And they wrote the SAME DAMN recommendation for EVERY kid in our school, no matter how intelligent/unique they were.</p>

<p>My essays were good... my cousin is phd student at harvard and she edited some of them, not that it matters?</p>

<p>So i was wondering... do i still have a chance even though my recomms suck. Everything else is fine... SAT scores gpa etc etc etc. </p>

<p>TBH, sat scores and all other crap doesnt really matter b/c every1 whose applying has very similar stats.. so need some feedback please!!!! I can send u my essays if you'd like.</p>

<p>The admissions officers will most likely realize your guidance counselor’s generic reccomendation and look to other parts of your app to learn about you. Its not your fault that your GC wrote a generic recommendation, so I don’t think they will hold you accountable. Hopefully, your teacher recs are better, as I think those mean a lot more than the GC one. If you have a good essay though, that brings out your best qualities, then you should be good to go.</p>
