Any idea on the time to process an application this time of year? Son applied to TTU and to Honors College over XMAS break. He got a message on the online application that his app would be held until they got back from break on Jan 2. Do you think they are still getting files processed in 4 - 6 weeks? That's what the estimate was back in September, but things could be busier now.

I applied around the same time as your son and I got my honors college admission letter yesterday, but still no formal offer of admission from the admissions office.

If you are considering a Texas public university and have been accepted by Tech, be sure to visit. I think you will be impressed. As evidence of its rising academic status (especially in Arts & Sciences), recall that Tech was selected last Fall for a new chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, one of only a handful (six?) of colleges/universities selected nationwide for new chapters. The Honors College has tons of opportunities. For a taste, take a look at the latest e-mail newsletter (January 10th) for Tech Honors students on the Honors College website. There's much more. Go visit.

4-6 weeks in September? Tech gave me a week before they accepted me in November. If your son has waited until now, you should probably expect a month minimum depending on his major.

Okay, son has now been admitted to TTU, but no word yet from Honors College. He hasn't gotten his letter yet in the mail, but he checked his TTU application status online. Are merit scholarship awards included in the acceptance letter, or does that come later?
