I sent in my application before the EA deadline. However, they have notified me that they are still missing my hs transcript and counselor's letter (which was sent with the teacher letter of rec, so I'm not sure how they haven't received it). I'm going to call them Monday just to be sure. If they don't have it, I can't even send a new copy until NEXT Monday, bc we're on break for the next week. Will they still consider my app for the EA deadline? I sent in my letters a little late to begin with bc of the fire situation, but I think SoCal residents have been cleared for that. Thanks!

My understanding of the EA deadline, which was pushed back because of the fire, is that only the application has to be in by that date. I would hope they'll be as understanding as possible. I don't think it will be a problem and I think they'll consider you on the EA time table. The circumstances are certainly beyond your control.

I have a friend from NC who is applying to UNC. He chose to do the online teacher rec and then typed in the teacher's email address incorrectly. When they said they didn't get a rec for him, he got his teacher to mail a paper rec. It got mailed out on Friday and they've told him he's still in the EA cycle.

I think you should do exactly what you said, call them on Monday. I think they'll consider you for EA but I'm in no position of authority. Good luck!

Call the UNC admissions office and tell them that it was sent in the same envelope with your other letters. You are perplexed as to why one was logged and others were not. THen explain to them that your school offices are closed....and that they delay to reprocess the request. See what they suggest. UNC offices close at 5 on Tuesday.

just call and explain and you'll be fine

My sense is that logging in materials that arrived close to the Nov. 1 deadline is going very slowly in the admissions office. My S's teacher rec was the last piece to go in (mailed third week in Oct.). As of last week it was still showing as missing, so he e-mailed them and, on their advice, FedExed a copy. At least we'll have documentation from FedEx that it was received. (Teacher sent it by postal mail, using an envelope my S had clearly addressed. I'm sure it's in their office somewhere.)

ok, thanks, that makes me feel better. I'm sure they get thousands of missing items requests every year, but I was just worried bc that will only leave them 4 wks to review my app (and most colleges say it takes 6-8 wks). Thanks though, I'll def. call and work it out. Go 'heels!
