<p>hey dudes, im fillin the app out for regular, and i noticed theres an optional essay…now, do they actually want you to do it? like do they just SAY optional, but mean “come onnnnnn do it!” Or do they honestly not care if u do it or not?</p>

<p>And also regarding that essay: it says “possible topics” and lists a few topics. Now does “possible topics” mean “choose from among these” or does it mean “here are some examples?” Cuz possible can mean the ONLY possible, or SOME possible</p>

<p>You can write it on whatever. Only include it if you think it'll help your app. I'd guess that the majority of applicants do the optional essay.</p>

<p>i didn't do it. when/if i get deferred, i'll prob. send in another essay from something i wrote for stanford or something. but i thought they had too much info from me already.</p>
