App Question

"Indicate any special talents or skills that you possess."

Did everyone fill this part out? Are they looking for random things you're good at or am i missing something?

ya i had trouble with this one too. I think this is a bad question. It could be re-worded to say what are you passionate about and give skills that support that passion or something like that i dunno. I was accepted EA and I only put a sentence down about public speaking I believe. Hope this helps!

I said that I could make my tongue into a 3-leaf clover, that my German chocolate cake was famous within my school (despite the fact I omit coconut) and something else that I don't remember.

You've been serious throughout the whole app, have some fun!

funny. i almost wrote about how i could shape my tongue into a three leaf clover.
do you really think its okay to be a bit goofy for that part?

(Accepted EA) I wrote what instruments I could play and "making people laugh."

Mine was pretty boring, as I basically listed everything for which the app didn't have a specific question for, such as service and some awards. Oh, and the instruments I play. Nothing that would really get their attention or make them laugh I guess!

I wrote 11 years piano experience, almost fluent in German and 3 years of Spanish knowledge, and Japanese Studies experience. Haha...I also can make my tongue into a clover, and I wish I would have thought of writing it!

is this supposed to be formal (like long) or is this just a really short thing, like a couple of sentences?

mine was in bullet form of like one sentence each, topoftheworld123

about how many bullets did you do? are people just listing things that are ACTUALLY skills/talents, or do they expect awards and such?

i did 2, and they were silly things.

i only realized afterwards that i could have said i was a national merit semifinalist...

i think it's really up to you! i have 2 friends who applied early -- one left it blank and one wrote a funny thing. they both got in.

sounds good.

also had another general question, thought i'd just ask here. when you guys copy and pasted essays into the box, did you lose your indents? if you did, would just using spacebar to indent the paragraph work, or would it look weird to do that?

I'll tell you more- you lose italics and underlines too.

I just spaced my indents. Since the site doesn't offer print preview, I just assumed it was fine.

As for the special talents, I did 2 points, one of which was silly and another that was more serious. It sounds like a majority of people took this opportunity to lighten up their application.
