<p>at what point can you apply for the major scholarships? can it be done while waiting on decision or do you have to be admitted first?</p>

<p>To apply for a major scholarship you have to be given a minor scholarship first (I think the req is something like 95% avg for Gr 11 & 12), so it’s pointless to apply before you find out whether or not you got a minor because then it would be a waste of time!</p>

<p>Major Scholarships Valued at $3,000 and Above, Renewable </p>
<p>If you meet the minimum academic requirements listed in the section on Criteria, and also demonstrate significant leadership qualities, you may apply for a major scholarship on the web after your application for admission has been submitted. </p>
<p>You will receive an e-mail acknowledgement of your admission application, which will provide you with your McGill ID number as well as a PIN that you can use to log on to Minerva. On Minerva, you can check the status of your admission application and submit your application for a major scholarship. </p>
<p>On Minerva, select the “Apply for a Major Scholarship” link on the “Applicant” menu. Here is a sample of what you will see:

<p>You will be prompted to provide specific information which may include some or all of the following: </p>
<p>a factual list of the school activities and community/volunteer involvement, including athletic/artistic and other activities in which you have been involved during the last three academic years;
a general essay either on a contemporary or historical figure that influenced or inspired you, or on a memorable event or experience which provided you with a new outlook on life;
a one-page letter of reference for yourself in the third person.
Applications for major scholarships are reviewed by members of selection committees, which then determine the finalists. Finalists for major scholarships may be interviewed. </p>
<p>Students who apply for, but do not receive, a major scholarship will automatically be considered for a one-year scholarship.</p>
