Appalachian State Admissions

Just submitted all of my stuff for 4 scholarships, the Honors College and Watauga College, so I’m making a thread since i didn’t see one for hopeful App State kids. Anyone else applying?

Hi. My son has applied. He submitted his application right after the school was open for applications. He’s interested in an outdoors major, like Outdoor Experiential Education, with a minor in Entrepreneurship. We visited the campus back in the summer and both liked it. I’d say it’s one of his top 3 or 4 choices right now. He’s also interested in a couple of schools in Colorado. I would hope he would hear from ASU soon, now that November 15 has passed.

Completed transfer application on 02 Nov for Spring 2017 - pending decision.

Also applied! I’m OOS, and sent in the scholarship application essays and the Watauga College essay. Undecided major, interested in environmental science/sustainability/biology. Hopefully we will be hearing soon! Anyone have stats they would like to share?

SAT (NEW): 1290 (awaiting November scores)
UWGPA: 3.85
WGPA: 4.45
Rank: 20/405
Good recommendations, average extracurriculars, very happy with my essays, talked my car accident (out of school for 2nd quarter junior year, occupational therapy and speech therapy for 7 months to recover) and why I follow a vegan diet. Thought of everything I could to stand out hahaha! Scholarship money would make going OOS much more affordable!

Best of luck to everyone!

I still need to visit the campus! They actually extended the deadline for the scholarships and honors and stuff until the 18th, so it may take a little longer. If he applied for any sort of Scholarship or anything, you should know by Mid January hopefully according to their website. App State is my 2nd or 3rd choice, I’m just applying in NC because of that in state tuition.

Guess I’ll put my stats:
ACT: 29, 30 superscore
UWGPA: 3.98
WGPA: 4.65
Rank: 1/55
I was lacking extracurriculars, but my school is super small (as you can tell lol) so I didn’t have that many options. I’m also interested in environmental studies, I put English Creative Writing as my major because I’m good at that stuff. Good luck to everyone!

Has anybody out there heard of any application decisions being made by App State yet? I know what the website says about hearing by mid-January, but this school is really supposed to be rolling admissions after November 15, and most similarly situated schools start to release some decisions (usually for the “highest stats” applicants) almost immediately after the “early action” deadline (November 15). Also, this school doesn’t seem to get much attention on College Confidential – don’t know why, seems like a very attractive college option with a fairly large student body. Where is everyone, lol?

I haven’t heard of anyone getting a decision yet. I think most people were notified in early December last year.

My daughter applied to App State and all the scholarship stuff. We’ve visited twice (we’re from OOS), and it’s probably 3rd on her list?

Stats:
ACT: 32
UWGPA: 4.0
WGPA: 5.9
Rank: 2/542

She loves the town and the area, but wishes it weren’t quite so rural. We’ll see what happens!

Everyone please check the portal!! A friend told me decisions were being sent out so I checked and I got in!!

Accepted!

Son was accepted yesterday!

My daughter is in as well!

I was accepted too, but have not heard about my status from the Honors College or WRC? Has anyone received notification from them yet?

D received a letter from the Honors Department today–accepted. We’re in Michigan.

Got acceptance to Honors College last week … anyone heard anything about scholars day?

Accepted to the Honors College! Have heard nothing about Scholars Day.

Did you get your Honors College acceptance by mail or through your portal?

We got ours in the Mail. Letter was dated Jan 4th.

Admissions sent out a message to schools saying that admissions decisions would be going out this afternoon and scholarships decisions would follow soon after. Good Luck!
