Apparently I made a mistake and sent too many (six) recommendation letters?

So I today I sent all six letters of recommendation: 1 counselor, 3 teacher, and 2 extra. I guess my default setting is to aim for the maximum, but in this case that's wrong.

Everywhere I've read says if you send more than three, it looks like you're trying to hide another part of you application. And I don't want to waste the time of the AdComs.

The thing is, I don't know which letters to get rid of (or if I even can?). I've read my English teacher's (hers was awesome), I NEED a letter from a science/math teacher for certain schools, and I spent so much time talking to my Spanish teacher about her letter, so I don't want to have wasted her time (and that one made me cry).

My lab mentor asked me if she could write one, she said I was the best student they've ever had in the lab, and she's a researcher at a top university, so I really don't think I should get rid of hers.

The other extra recommendation is from a science program coordinator I have known personally for the past year. I KNOW hers is glowing.

What should I do? Should I be freaking out or not?

Thanks, everyone.

Bump?

Same for me, except I submitted 4 recs. I initially only had three, but one of my teachers who told me he absolutely wouldn’t have time to write any rec letters for the Nov. 1st deadline suddenly up and submitted a rec letter for my application, bringing my total up to 4 recs. I have no idea what to do. Based on what people have told me, I should definitely be freaking out. I have no idea what to do either, but I desperately want to go back down to 3 recs max. I’m starting to think that even just 3 is pushing it. I don’t mean to scare you, but I’m in a similar situation, and that’s basically the feedback I’ve received.

Oh gosh. Well I know that the minimum I can have (at least for Harvard) is three because the one counselor rec and two teacher recs are required.

But why would they allow so many recs if they didn’t want us to send them, you know? I just really wish I had know this unspoken rule beforehand.

Can anyone else provide any guidance? It would be greatly appreciated!!!
