COLLEGE CLASS 2013

You can still fill out the FAFSA. My understanding is that if you are Pell eligible, you would still get the Pell grant. Other federal grants are awarded on a first come/first served basis, I believe. You would also be eligible for a Stafford Loan.

Since you have probably missed your school’s deadline, you may not receive much school based aid.

awwww efffff
anyone else who can shed light into this matter ?

amby…what do you hope to find out? You don’t indicate your college, but if you missed their financial aid deadline, it is highly likely that their institutional funds are dispersed to the students who MADE their applications in a timely fashion. The federal government will give you a Pell if you are eligible…and the Stafford. Other federal aid (Perkins loans, SEOG) are given on a first come/first served basis.

Are you in CA? If so, I believe you missed the deadline for Cal grants (someone from CA will have to verify).

To anyone else reading this…deadlines are important!!

The 2009 FAFSA covers the 09/10 aid year, so you can actually fill it out anytime through next year. You should do so ASAP as you will not be offered even Stafford loans without it. If you have a low EFC, you can still get federal grants, and possibly additional federal loans. State grants vary - check with your state’s Dept of Ed website for details and deadlines.

You are seriously late figuring this stuff out if you need financial aid for next year. Bills are typically sent out starting in June/July for the fall semester so you’d better get scrambling today! Carefully read, research, and respond to all FA items within the deadlines if you want to be offered aid - perhaps one of your parents can help you “learn the ropes” but it’s ultimately your responsibility. Welcome to the adult world…

We submitted my daughter’s FAFSA last September for the 2008-9 year. It was right around when classes were starting. She got a Pell grant, Stafford loan offers, and a state grant keyed into Pell recipients. No work-study, though, and no aid awarded by the school itself. Those are both first-come, first-served. But it was great to get what she did get at that late date.

you can fill out the fafsa anytime during the year.
thumper1 is right - you will get the Pell grant if entitled to it and Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans.

The deadlines that schools post are for their own financial and and to process your application so you know in advance how much you will qualify for.

ok ! thank you all
I will fill out FAFSA asap

BTw i am going to UCSB and i am a california resident and yes the deadline was march 2nd, 2009

For the NEXT school year, look very carefully at UCSB’s financial aid deadlines and get you stuff submitted EARLY.

sure thing thumper1

thank you to all
