Hey guys. Like many others, I was denied admission today at UCSB. It was my first choice and I am really bummed about it. I am going to appeal the decision and was wondering what you guys think my chances are.

UC GPA: 3.77
SAT I: 1930
SAT II: decent, nothing amazing
ACT: 30
ECs: 10hrs work/week, Track & Field, Cross Country, Altar Serving
APs: US History, US Gov, Calculus AB, Psychology B

I also have been offered a full, 4 year ROTC scholarship at UCSB. I'm dumbfounded on why I was not accepted and am wondering if the whole appeals process is a waste of time. Thanks.

i think u should try it dude

I'm going to appeal, too. I really believe I should have gotten in. There were some hardships I've faced in the past that I didn't disclose on the UC common application, but now I regret doing that. I'm sending out appeals to UCD, UCSD, and UCSB. I'm already predicting a rejection from UCLA, so I've got one prepared for them, too.

Good luck to you too, billabong81. I feel your pain.

SAT I: 1920 (R 600, M 640, W 680)
SAT II: Chemistry - 700, , Math IIC - 650, Japanese - 760
GPA: 3.7uw/3.8w

-I've volunteered for my exchange organization since then

Debbie, you look even more qualified than myself. I have some friends at school that were accepted that don't have 1/2 the credentials you do! Good luck in the appeals, hopefully they go well for us both.

I just realized I was awarded the ROTC scholarship in January, well after I had submitted my app. I'm going to attempt appealing on the grounds of now having a full scholarship. I think that is as good a reason as any!

Best of luck to everyone else appealing!
