Appeal for Decision?

I respect the admissions decision but I truly felt that the rejection was harsh. I know there are many competitive and outstanding applicants out there, but this was more than just a dream school for me. I know the sound of it is pretty ridiculous, but can I appeal for decision?

I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get in, sounds like you were very passionate about attending.

But I doubt they’ll listen to an appeal for decision. They may do it if there are unique circumstances, but I highly doubt they’d do it just because you didn’t get in. Otherwise, all the rejected kids at every school would just appeal.

No. People are rejected for many reasons, not just for your academic stats. Everything about you may have been perfect, but the adcoms may just had a bad day when they were looking at your application. Even so, the decision has been made, good or bad. Rejection is hard to take for anyone, especially when it’s something you wanted so badly. I hope you have many other good choices. You could consider transfer later if Cornell is where you want to be. But most students I know do end up loving where they matriculate. Give it a few days, then visit/research schools you have been accepted to, and start getting excited about the school you will attend this fall.

^well said. a bad day is just something you have no control over. they are human after all.

are appeals allowed for all ivys?

No. Cornell won’t “consider” it. And as for other ivies, i guess you could try but I know Columbia doesn’t consider it as well.

Is there any information posted online or elsewhere that Cornell does not accept appeals? I know Columbia’s website says they do not consider appeals, but is there any information about this on Cornell’s website? I am curious to know, because I would like to appeal my Cornell decision, as well.

You can appeal by filling out a transfer application next year.

I called them today, and they said that there is no appeal policy. I don’t know though, college admission politics is insaneee. You should just try and send a letter anyway.

And even if it doesn’t work out, getting two rejection letters from the same school in the same year is actually pretty classyy :P

LOLL, Good Luck!
