Hey! so i’m going to appeal for UCD even though there isn’t a big chance for me getting in. I was wondering what you’re actually suppose to write in your appeal letter? any advice?

What were you stats?

In your appeal you should have a ground for your appeal. It shouldn’t be something like, “you should have chosen me because…” but rather "I forgot to go in detail about ______ (an event that made you have a disadvantage, mistake in your scores, wrong sat or act, etc). It should never make the reader feel hostile haha so don’t rant about why you should of gotten in. Send as many letter of recs as you can. This can be from your extra curricular advisor, teachers, counselors, etc!

Found this on the UCD website:
"Appeals are rarely granted. Consideration for appeals is based on new and compelling information, extenuating circumstances and your overall academic record. As part of your appeal, you must include a statement describing your special circumstances, as well as self-reported academic records, letters of recommendation (suggested) and any other documentation. Try to include something really meaningful and new! Some reasons I saw people used to appeal (and some did get accepted) include financial aid, wanting to go to same school as twin, or having to stay close to home to take care of a sick relative (ie grandparent with cancer or something like that).

Hey! I’m currently a second year at Davis and I got in based on my appeal! I really felt that I deserved to go there and shouldn’t have been basically judged soley on my gpa (which I feel is something that they tend to do - if you have a bad gpa, they won’t bother really reading the rest of your application). So in my appeal letter I basically talked about my strengths and passions and other things I was involved with that wasn’t strictly school related. I also had really good letters of recs ( i sent in about 4 I think since there isn’t a cap on them - anyone that had any sort of influence over their decision!)
But yeah, feel free to message me if you have any questions/want help!

do i type up my appeal on the space provided on the appeal page for UC davis or do i have to mail it in? because this is all it says-

Step 3: In detail, discuss the reasons for your appeal in the space provided below (350 word limit):

and they give you a bunch of space, but ive been hearing some people say we have to mail it in!

does anyone know what we really need to do?!
