Appeal Question

Re-posted from Arts thread:

Well, since I didn't receive the Arts dept. postcard, and I'm pretty sure I messed up my music audition, I'm pretty positive that I won't be accepted to UCLA. I wish they would consider a music applicant's second choice major (mine was music history), since I'm also very passionate about that subject.

I have a question though. The music department lost my application materials and thus did not send me feedback as to whether or not I passed the pre-screening (CD/tape) audition. When I called they decided to schedule me an audition anyway, but the whole process was a hassle. I should have changed my major to music history instead of dealing with my lost music application. Is this a legitimate reason to appeal?

I think so; it seems rather unprofessional of them to lose your application materials in the first place...

So does anyone know how the appeal process works?

bump :( (10 char)

you appeal if there was something significant you did not mention on your application. And at UCLA i believe its 5% or lower that appeals actually go through. A student at my hs a few years ago got rejected by the top UC's. Turns out, he was deaf in one ear and his grades werent that good but his sat scores were incredible. With a doctor's note showing he really was deaf in one ear and becuase he did not mention that on his app, he appealed using that. Thats a real valid argument on why his grades werent as high, and his appeal went through.

unless its something as extreme as that which you did not mention, im not sure how worth it it will be to appeal.

i think it's still worth a shot if UCLA is your top choice school
