In the end, I was denied at the University of Michigan. I know kids at my school with significantly lower stats than me and lower ACTs get in. I got into many other good places, but Michigan was the only in state option for me, and if the financial aspects of other colleges don't work Michigan would be good. Is there any way to appeal my decision? If so, how should I, and what should I say?

What are your stats?

3.9 GPA and 32 ACT. I know kids at my school with 3.4s and 27s that got in. Like 50 kids go from my school.

I would have to guess you were probably denied because of something non academic. Perhaps your essays weren’t too good, or it could have been mediocre recommendations or maybe a lack of leadership experience.

Regardless of why you were denied, you should probably try to appeal if Michigan is really your top choice. Appealing certainly can’t hurt, but you definitely shouldn’t hold your breath. I really wouldn’t expect them to change their decision.

Edit:
In one of your previous posts, you said you got into U-M (LS&A). Did they rescind your admission for some reason? If that’s what happened, it’s extremely unlikely for them to change their mind once they have already pulled the trigger.

You also mentioned that you got into MSU. If for whatever reason you can’t go out-of-state due to financial reasons (and your appeal to U-M is rejected), MSU is still a good alternative to Michigan.

Yea the other one about Michigan was actually a friend on my computer, but yes I do have MSU. Thanks
