Appeal

How often do the CSUs actually accept appeals? Specifically CSU Chico, should I even appeal?

Whether to appeal or not probably depends on individual circumstances. Our son applied to CSU Sacramento with a GPA of 3.05 and SAT scores of CR 660, Math 720. We knew his GPA was on the low side but thought his SAT scores would compensate for that somewhat. Even though we are California residents and my son will be graduating from a high school in Sacramento County, for some reason he checked a box on the application for that stated he was an international student.

He was rejected by CSU Sacramento but were informed we could appeal the denial. We presented evidence, such as his high school transcript, that he was indeed a California resident applying from the CSUS service area. Within a week we were notified that our appeal had been successful and an offer of admission was made. So it is possible to appeal to a CSU over an admission decision and to win.

@Lemaitre1 Hey, I’m glad it all worked out between your son and Sac State. Good luck to him!

Lemaitre1: Congratulation as well! I have been following your saga and am so glad that it turned out positively!

^

@hesdjjim and crizello, thank you so much for your kind words and support, they are really appreciated.

Lemaitre, glad your sons’ appeal was successful. We’re touring next week then my son has a decision to make.

Sorry Insurance, I think your thread has been hijacked. Let’s try to get it back on track. Personally, I have no experience appealing. Did you get into any other schools that you might see yourself going to?

Hahaha thanks I was thinking the same too. I have been accepted to a couple other ones but Chico is exactly where I want to go, I’ve already accepted another college but not as excited as I would be if I were going to Chico, but if accepted by appeal I’m allowed to withdraw my enrollment.
