When does the appeal decisions come out? Mine still says "your appeal is under consideration" It has been a month already...

Yeah I’m in the same spot as you are, so I called the admissions office and they said the decision will take up to six to eight weeks, which means sometime in June, can anyone confirm this? And has anyone else gotten an earlier reply for appeals yet?

I appealed as a transfer student, and they told me not to expect to hear back until mid July/ August when I dropped it off. The application/ appeal schedule for freshmen applicants is about a month ahead of transfers, which would suggest that mid June is a good guess for when appeal decisions will start coming out.

I called today and the receptionist (not sure if she’s an admissions officer…) told me that appeal decisions would be released sometime this week.

That’s because they’re have to tell the waitlisters if they’re going to get in or not first before they tell Appeals. Last year UCI was under scrutiny because they took appeals first.

let me know if you get in by appeal

Well, I guess when they told me I would have to wait until July/ August to hear back it was just to be on the safe side. I checked my UCI application/ appeal status a little while ago, and the decision had been posted.

“After careful consideration of the information you provided, your appeal was granted.”

However, it also says, “You have been admitted with conditions. Your letter of admission and Transfer Conditions for Admission, specifying the terms of your provisional admission, will be mailed shortly.”

The terms of my “personalized transfer conditions” haven’t been posted yet, though, so I’m not quite sure if I’m excited or not.

Congratulations!
Hearing that gives me a little hope for UCI… ><
If it’s not too personal, do you mind telling us your appeal grounds? o_o
Just curious to see what they’re looking for…

Definitely not too personal. I’m a transfer student, and I applied to UCI with a TAG (transfer agreement guarantee), and because I satisfied all the requirements I should have been offered admission, but I was rejected.

When I spoke with my admissions counselor, I found out that they thought I’d missed an important prerequisite for my major. However, they had made a mistake and overlooked the class that satisfied the prerequisite because the course name had changed after I’d completed it. My counselor told me to go ahead and appeal, since mistakes like that are grounds for appeal.

I explained the situation in my letter, talked about why I wanted to go to UCI and why I thought I’d make a good addition to the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department.

Seems like they’re really looking for the “new and compelling evidence” that changes the way they look at your application.

Oh wow, how could they overlook that? I guess they’re really busy this year…? Well it’s fortunate that they reviewed your application again and took you back. xD
Thanks for sharing your information and congratulations again! :D

Unfortunately for me, I applied as a freshmen so I don’t think I have that much of a chance getting in anymore. :/
