I wrote an appeal letter for UCSD and i was wondering if anyone is willing to read it and give me read back. I also plan on sending two letters of rec. from two of my favorite teachers who know that I am an excellent student and also medical forms involving the issue discussed on my appeal. Please message me if you're interested in reading my appeal.

Make sure to file the appeal as directed on their website- there is a submittal form- and limit it to the max. words -I think it is 200 or 250. They also very specifically tell you NOT to send any supporting data at this time. They may request medical confirmations later but will not look at them now. My son submitted his appeal last week and the site says a decision will be made within 3 weeks. Good luck

can anyone direct me to the appeal process? i cannot find it on their website. i have my appeal letter written, and my two letters of recommendation ready to submit. where can i find information on the process?

What are you supposed to include in your appeal? I called the admissions office and they said that all the information on appeals was in their FAQs, but I cannot find the info there.

It is difficult to find the form on their site. I believe that once my son signed into the admissions website, he used their search engine for “admissions appeal”. There is a specific form that you submit on-line. It is very short and includes a space for a max. 250-word essay as to why you are appealing. Once you submit it, it will tell you it may take up to 3 weeks to review, and that if it is longer than that you should e-mail the given address. My son submitted his on 3/22 and had a decision today- he was admitted based on his appeal. Be sure that you also fill in the wait-list form if you were wait-listed as they will consider that if the appeal is denied.

what advice can you give us when writing an appeal? how did you son write it? any tips please? I am dying to go to UCSD. I believe I have the credentials but i don’t know what happened. I have a 3.78 (3.9 including 1st sem senior year) GPA weighted out of 4.0 and 30 ACT. also is it ok to appeal to more than 1 college? will another UC know?

He appealed based on a medical condition that does affect how he plans activities. He does not normally like to address it and did not include the information in his original application. It is well documented but they did not ask for any back-up. There are not many approved things that you can use for your appeal- medical issues, new awards or accomplishments, or undocumented hardships. Best of luck with your appeal.

His GPA and test scores were a little higher-a 4.5 GPA and 2030 sat and 31 act- he was wait-listed. As far as I know there is no connection between the UC’s for the appeal process so no reason why you can’t appeal to more than 1 campus.
