Gonna appeal tomorrow, any tips?

Tryig doesn’t hurt, but don’t expect it will work unless the information you are giving them is too make them aware of any hardships/health issues/etc that made bad impacts on your stats (gpa/sat/ec’s/etc) when you submitted your application for admissions.

If you are going to try and say you got a higher SAT, more service hours, and such; you are missing the purpose of this appealing process. In simpler words, you would be appealing incorrectly if this was the case.

If you do have something to make them aware of, try it.

Best of luck.

my parents split in 10th grade, but my grades didnt show anything. (well the only C’s I had in high school were in 9th grade) Could I use that? I was also an SAT Tutor and Treasurer of a club that wasnt included in my ec’s because i submitted application a little too early.

IMO the fact about being an SAT tutor doesn’t qualify (its just adding more to your application and has nothing to do with having difficulties in the past). As for your parent splitting, I can’t say for sure. I’d suggest they check trends in your grades and trends in your finances (assuming you applied for FASFA). If it doesn’t show that your grades took a spike or anything, I’d guess they’d figure it wasn’t a serious difficulty. My parents also split when I applied, but my grades hadn’t been affected (I didn’t report this, though, and I suspect divorced parents is pretty common among applicants). I wouldn’t really count on it too much, but it might not hurt to try. Note that about 5% of appeals are granted.

Best of luck,

Well I had two C’s freshman year, and I guess you can say they were “fighting”. Then my grades started to progress 10th grade year when they split. I will try. Thanks for ur help

I called and they said that it showed I had no AP’s this year but I had 5 AP’s!!! I guess I forgot to submit my senior schedule. Oops. Well now they said I have a chance if I submit it my schedule with the appeal!!

Thats odd. I believe they did something new with admissions this time where applicants put their info on the system themselves. There may have been a mistake.

If you have a change, go for it!

Best of luck,

^^^ yep, this year you had to submit a SAR (Self-Reported Academic Record), they didn’t accept transcripts. It should have included your senior year (just listing the classes you plan to take). They only request your final transcripts if you’ve been admitted/enrolled.

That’s good reason to appeal there hope good luck

My S was rejected from the pre-med program. If we wanted to appeal, would it be better if HE called or me (mom)? I want to make sure HIS AP classes were noted, too.

I don’t think it matters who contacts admissions. Feel free to start the process for your son.

Thanks Gator88NE

I would think your son should appeal. I’ve read that many colleges really look down at people who have their parents do what their sons/daughters are supposed to. Better that he get used to it as (no offense) your word is meaningless to any faculty at UF. They really won’t care what someones mom has to say. He should speak for himself on this one.

I think that when it comes to admissions the student should call and when it comes to finances the parents should.
