Do they need transcripts or a letter of a rec.?

transcripts are required. letters of rec are not, but i suggest sending them in anyway…

You need to send in transcript >:(. Which if your senior 1st semester grade is good will only help your appeal more :D

if i got a C my first semester of senior year, and am on the waiting list, would writing an appeal (which means including the transcript) hurt my chances of being admitted?

If you’re already on the waitlist you can’t write an appeal -.-(but then they won’t see ur C too :D). I denied my spot for UCI so maybe u’ll end up getting my spot :D.

waiting list is BS. all it is is a way for the university to make sure they have a full number of students and the right types of students they want (maybe not enough music people came to uci… so they pull a music person off the waitlist- whatever).

unless you get people not to come to uci, there’s not much you can do.

what ends up happening is someone going to berkeley while on harvard’s waitlist gets in to harvard at the last moment. than berkeley says they need someone else to take that spot and pulls someone off their waitlist. that person drops Irvine, so irvine pulls YOU up. maybe you drop riverside. it goes down the list (or maybe they just dont care to lose you and nothing happens…)
[and this is an example. i have no idea if berk or harvard use waitlists]

I’ve heard UCI doesn’t respond to appeal till very late D:. I hope mine is sucessful :(. Sent it already and can’t do anything now :(. How will we be notified if our appeal has been received?
