appealing a decision when your rejected.

Hey.I just got rejected by NYU, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, and Vandy. Ive heard from various people that certain applicants appeal their decisions if they are rejected. Can someone explain this process to me? Im not sure if a qualify, since my stats are nothing exceptional for the schools. Heres a copy of my stats:

I go to a very competive prep school. All these grades are not weighted. I think my courseload is amoung the top 10 percent of my class. My overall grades/ courseload qualifies for the top 25-30 percent. There is no class rank in my school.

Does anyone think i should appeal, or would that just be a waste of time. THanks for your opinions!

Hi, my brother was rejected from all of his schools ecept for BC. He was really hoping to get into Stern and is crushed because that was definitely a school within his reach. I dont want to tell him now to try to appeal it, I want to write them a letter myself for the heck of it. If I were you, I'd appeal, what have you got to lose now? Best of luck to you

I'm actually thinking about appealing my rejection from Georgetown. I don't know if if is a lost cause but I mean it's not like it can really hurt me anymore. I really don't even know how to go about it but I think that if you really want to attend one of those schools, then it is definitely worth a try. I would pick the one that you would like the best and then try to play up your extracurriculars and any other significant achievements that you have made since you submitted your application.

Just out of curiousity, when did you hear from Vandy? I haven't gotten anything and I figure that I must have been rejected since they were sent by priority mail. That sucks...I really thought I had a chance!!

Well I hope everything goes well for you.

I heard from vandy today. I think if you still havent recived a letter, you are pretty much rejected. I think they send all the acceptance letters by priority mail.

Anyone else have any advice?

If you go to a good prep school you have a good counselor. Trust that person to help you now.
