I applied to NYU early decision and i find out if i got in within the next ten days. ive heard talk about appealing a rejection, but i dont know how to go about doing it. does anyone know how the process? any advice? thanks!

The appeal process at most schools require substantial achievement on your part from the time you sent in your application to the time you are denied. It requires you to contact the admission and major lobbying effort. But they only reverse their decision if you change something in your application (a 2400 when you take the SAT after you've applied, winning the Intel award, blah blah).

A rejection from EA and ED is, in my mind, even worse than one from RD. What they saying is that you aren't competitive enough to be deferred to the regular pool. That's a pretty strong and negative statement. But let hope it won't come to that. Good luck in ten days.

P.S.
This is my 800th post on CC...God, I wish I had spent those times on something worthwhile...oh well, here to 800 more.
