Do GCs have the ability to appeal college rejections? I recently heard about a GC who supposedly successfully appealed a student's rejection to a highly-ranked LAC. i wasn't aware that was an option. Any insights?

Well, if your grounds for appeal are likely better than those of the 3,000 other folks who were rejected, and the 500 on the waiting list, and it can be conveyed why you are a better applicant than these 3,500 other folks, and in fact deserve to be among the admitted, it MIGHT work.

Alternatively, renting a plane and putting up sky messages above the admissions office might be a better approach.

GC's can always inquire as to why an applicant was rejected. If a rejected applicant believes that his/her application was not reviewed fully, e.g., critical information did not arrive on time to be reviewed with the application due to the Post Office losing it, then s/he or the GC could inquire, but I doubt if there's any recourse.

This is more likely to be successful if the college has an official appeal procedure. Even with this, the probability of success is slight.
