Appealing Financial Aid

Hi Everyone!
Much to my excitement, I was accepted to Brown, Yale, Penn, and Carleton last week. I'm so excited. Unfortunately, out of those, only Carleton gave me an acceptable (and fully need-based) financial aid package last week. I was so confused, especially about Yale (which is my top choice, and offered me around 30% of what Carleton offered).
What is the best way to go about appealing at Yale, and the other schools? Yale makes such a big deal of how they are affordable for everyone, so I was quite shocked at my package.
Thanks!

Call Yale’s financial aid office and ask to speak with an officer. Tell them how excited you are about attending Yale, but that you have a 100% need-based offer from Carleton which is 30% cheaper. Given Carleton’'s offer, would Yale be willing to re-examine their financial aid package. (Be prepared to immediately fax or email Carleton’s offer to Yale.) Yale may, or may not, opt to re-evaluate their offer.

I think Yale will re-evaluate their offer. They DO NOT want to lose a top student – and clearly, you are one!

I feel like a broken record but please make sure if they match it, that it is more than just for freshman year.

I posted this on another thread this morning, but it bears repeating

^This what I did with another school who I asked to come closer to Ys generous offer and going into sr year, they have honored the promise; use email to have a paper trail.
