Appealing for AES @ UTD

I’ve just received my AES award yesterday and I gotta say that it wasn’t what I expected nor what I needed. Freshmen from previous years with the same stats as me managed to get full rides with $1K stipend, yet I only received $3K per semester from AES. I want to appeal to get a higher tiered scholarship. Is there a certain process to appeal or some email or person that I have to contact? Please walk me through what I have to do to appeal for a better scholarship.

So here are my stats
SAT : 1460. Math : 770. Verbal : 690.
GPA weighted : 5.21 (6.0 Scale)
Rank : My school doesn’t display ranks on your transcripts.

I have a better Computer Science background than most of the students that received better scholarships than me. I scored a 5 on the APCSA exam and another 5 in the APCSP exam. Through out high school I took all the computer science classes that I was eligible to be in and managed to get above a 95 in all of them. I’ve been dedicated to this major for about 5 years till now and I took time outside of class to learn Python and some basics in Machine Learning through an online tutoring service called Udemy. I plan to commit to UTD for my masters in a fast track program in CS. Overall, I am truly dedicated to this major at UTD and I am willing to do whatever it takes to get a better AES scholarship.

Thank you in Advance!

You can try and should. But they’ve cut AES awards across the board.

Sorry the award was less than you wanted. I don’t know how far back you are talking - but based on the stats I’ve seen for the past two years - those stats would not have been a full ride with stipend. The $8,000 a semester seemed to be 33-36 act/1490-1600 sat with rank/GPA factored in. Meaning a 1490 would have to have been higher rank/GPA.

I don’t recall them giving anything below a 31 act or 1420 last year. And those were the $1500 a semester awards.
