Appealing for UCLA need help! (Transfer)

Hello guys, I recently got rejected for Asian American studies major.. if there is even a 0.01% chance of admission through appeal I want to put the best effort into it. What are some ways I can write the essay to excel over others?
My prerequisites are being completed right now and will have a decent grade will that help with appeal? Please I really need help, this rejection just shut down my mentality and i am lost.

I got rejected by UCLA with the same major, what was your gpa ??? mine was 3.66

It seems like you don’t have a good reason to appeal and are only doing it because you really want to get in.

I’m going to let you know right now that you shouldn’t do this and that you will definitely suffer even more heartache because UCLA will reject your appeal unless you have a damned good reason to be accepted that UCLA hasn’t taken into account.

Saying that you expect to get good grades at the end of the semester isn’t a good reason to appeal. Do you have any other reason why UCLA should accept you?

Appeal isn’t about chances. It’s about having a reason and you don’t have one.

They told me I haven’t finished my reqs but it will actually be finished by end of this semester.

And you think they weren’t aware that you were going to finish them this semester? If you stated on your application that you were taking your last pre-reqs in the spring semester/quarter, then they saw that and still decided to deny you. If this is the reason you think your appeal will succeed, you’re in for a nasty surprise.

You wouldn’t be giving them any information they didn’t already have. It’s basically tantamount to asking them to let you in because you really, really, REALLY want to go, which simply isn’t a good enough reason.

I’m really trying not come off as an ■■■■■■■. I’m just trying to save you from enduring any more suffering by telling you not to get your hopes up that your appeal letter has a realistic chance of success and being in essence rejected again.

I think at least you should try. Why not? It won’t hurt and I think they don’t mind taking a look at it.

Don’t lose your mind and try to consult some local counselors and professionals who are familiar with the appeal session. It’s better than coming to this discussion board because i don’t think people can give you good suggestions within minutes. You really need someone can listen to your situation carefully and help you analyze it. The other thing - it’s not the end of the world.

Because even if you are accepted - like me, I still have a lot of things to think about…going to a top ranking school is a challenge task you might consider a lit bit before you go…make sure you have some back up plans!! I am sure you applied to other schools right?

Cayton and Oceanpartier said it best. Appealing is for people who have a legitimate reason for having an admissions officer look over their application. No one should abuse this “just because.” There’s a reason they denied you, and if you are curious, contact the admission help desk at UCLA (or any UC for that matter).

I have heard that they will tell you the reason sometimes, so once you hear it, and you believe they neglected to factor in an extraordinary circumstance or something you believe should’ve affected your admission eligibility, then you have a legitimate reason. You can use that for the essay you’ll be writing for your appeal.
