I received my AP literature score today and I was really upset by the score I got (1). I was also rather surprised as I did really well during throughout the year, even during remote learning, and I actively studied ahead of the test. I was one of a few students who actually did the practice essays that were assigned and I was rereading my work to strengthen it. Keep in mind, I’m not perfect. I just didn’t expect a 1!! During the test, I also felt comfortable with the prompt and the passage because I understood what was being asked. I actually enjoyed writing that essay as I really liked the passage. I outlined my thoughts and then wrote my essay. I at least expected a 2-3? It didn’t have to be a 5, but a 1 just seems so odd. I have the pictures of the essay from when I submitted it, and I reread it today. I still couldn’t see how it could’ve score a 1. My writing made it clear that I understood the prompt and the passage at hand. I was really hoping to report that score to colleges, but I can’t report a 1. Getting an A in the class and a 1 on the test is odd. I don’t know what to do. I’m not sure if there was a mistake. Maybe they didn’t receive the pictures I sent or some other mistake happened. I’m really confused. Is there a way I could appeal the score? What should I do? I have the original pictures and a screenshot of the confirmation of the submission from the day of the test. It all has the date and time of when I took the test. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
Ask the teacher who taught the class. He/she should have access to your response and the rubric used for grading.
Call college boards.org and make a complaint then contact your teacher and ask for the replies from the test scores. If the teacher thinks it needs to be rescored then they can call college boards and request it.
Start with your teacher.
