@thumper1: Evidently NCF’s deadline for receiving all app materials is 4/15.
@Publisher: Agree.

Well…you now have a couple of other options if you want to submit applications.
New College in Florida…where you would get full tuition.
University of Alabama Huntsville…@mom2collegekids am I correct that they are also still taking NM applications. What about UA main campus?
Are your parents still saying they’ll only pay for certain schools? If they won’t pay for Williams will they pay for your in state honors college or do they want you to take the full ride to UT Dallas?
Is it a case of
“my parents can pay but wish they didn’t have to”,
“my parents can more or less pay but we’re trying to get a little from Williams”
or “we’ll have to do such serious belt tightening I feel guilty”
or " my parents will only pay for prestige but I worry we don’t have enough" or
“I thought we could pay but turns out we can’t”…
?
@austinmshauri Yes, they’ll pay for my in state option, knowing myself, I’ll try to pay most of it and I hope to (LOL)
I looked into NCF but I don’t see anywhere about full tuition for national merit. Looking on their website, this is all I found in terms of scholarships from NMF https://www.ncf.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships/florida-freshmen/
I’m also not a florida resident which means tuition is twice as much.
@mom2collegekids As @thumper1 mentioned, I’d love to know if UA Huntsman is still taking applications. What types of benefits are provided to NMFs at UA and are they a big draw for national merit scholars? However, I have a few concerns about the school.
@ucbalumnus The EFC showed possible aid.
Uh, NCF has an OOS freshmen scholarship page that is easy to find: https://www.ncf.edu/admissions/financial-aid/scholarships/out-of-state-freshmen/
Are you a NMF? If so, most of the Florida schools would be a full COA scholarship under Benacquisto.
@frozenyyogurht It’s UA HuntsVILLE.
https://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply-for-admission/freshmen - it’s a rolling admissions school so there is no deadline.
Merit scholarships are here: https://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/financial-aid/scholarships/merit-tuition-scholarships
Seems like both UA Huntsville and UF schools offer generous merit packages but in the end, UA Huntsville offers a sweeter deal because they cover everything, even on-campus housing it seems, and they also provide a course fee stipend (up to $1000), is it renewable? Does anyone know anyone who goes there right now and would like to share some experiences?
Another school with good merit is UA (U of Arizona) for national merit finalists. The problem is it’s so hot there
If you are NMF, the Florida schools are full COA. If you are not NMF, you have to look at each Florida school individually. NCF offers some aid, but UF or FSU might not.
@frozenyyogurht I don’t know anything about UAH that I’m not reading at the links I posted. Yes it’s renewable,but housing is only for the first two years. That’s what it says. I’m sure the renewal GPA/credit load requirement is in there too.
Re: Arizona. Their sweet spot for weather is between end of September and April which is most of th academic year. It’s hot between May and August.
Everything…everything in AZ has AC. Not sure the heat would be a concern.
@twoinanddone I am NMF so I would only pay room and board and food, right? Or does the scholarship cover the entire FULL cost of attendance?
@OHMomof2 Oh okay, that makes sense
Full COA. https://www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org/PDF/factsheets/FIS.pdf
You’d have to see which schools are still taking applications. The Benacquisto is a separate agency so just being a NMF doesn’t get you admitted to the schools.
“Seems like both UA Huntsville and UF schools offer generous merit packages but in the end, UA Huntsville offers a sweeter deal because they cover everything, even on-campus housing it seems”
My S was awarded UAH’s top automatic merit package last year when it included 4 years of on campus housing. It did not include ‘fees’, ‘meal plan’ ‘books’ etc. https://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/financial-aid/costs
