Hey, I was rejected ED, and of course, pretty angry about it. I think one of the reasons I may have been rejected had to do with changing my admissions from Wharton to College, but I really have no idea. All I know is that even though I sent htem a letter indicating my change months ahead of time, they still had me down as a Wharton applicant until a few days before tehy started reading apps. My stats weren’t great, I wasn’t expecting to get in, but I thought at the least I’d get deferred. I’m not trying to sound arrogant but I didn’t anticipate a rejection at all. With this being said, Penn is extremely selective, and chances are they didn’t like something on my application, and I was rejected because I just wasn’t qualified.
So my big deal is, since Penn was like my dream school, was I rejected because of the confusion on my application or them thinking I intended to backdoor into Wharton, or was I simply rejected based on lack of qualification. I’ve talked my big goofy friend ilovepoker about it, he brought up possibly appealing my rejection. Has anyone heard of appealing rejections, known anyone that has done it, or knows the best way to go about it? Any comments would be appreciated. Oh and for all you ladies out there who got accepted to Penn, watch out for Ilovepoker, hes a player, you guys really have some hard compitetition.

I'm going to have to stop adam from hooking up with ugly chicks when he's drunk!

I heard about one girl appealing her app (because she supposedly knew someone on the inside and was a lock). She's flying to penn to do it. Your guidance counselor should know...

umm... you probably got rejected because Penn had so many qualified applicants... if u said ur stats werent that great u answered your own question. Accept your decision and quit bitching.

Thanks for the info panda, you better look out for him. Thats kind of hardcore flying to Penn and everything.

Oh and next time I want a worthless response Ill let you know swan, thanks.

jonkt...

While Swan's post might have been abrasive, he has a point. Quite possibly you just didn't make the cut.

Yeah obviously he didn't make the cut, but thats why people repeal rejections...to convince them that they made a mistake. It's got like a 5% success rate so don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about or anything about the process.

That's not true ben and jon. There are definitely people with eerily low scores that got in. I mean, if his scores were like 1100, 550, 600, 620 then maybe...

Yeah, that is hardcore. But she was literally a lock.

jonkt345, I private messaged you

i read somewhere that lots of people appeal but rejected students RARELY EVER get accepted/out of rejection status
you usually only appeal if they received wrong information or mixed you up with someone else who has your name or something like that
yeah.. they usually don't change anything
(this applies to nearly all of the top colleges)

you have to realize
decisions is actually subjective up to a certain level and we can't really do anything about it other than present ourselves the best we can... the admissions process isn't the fairest, we all know that, so i'm sorry about your rejection but try to focus on your other apps

penn is a lot of people's dream school but they can't take us all

if you really want to appeal go ahead, but i'm pretty sure it won't change anything unless they did get your info/identity wrong or something

my school is the biggest feeder to penn in the nation... so president of my school met with the new president of penn thurs. He discussed about me in part of the meeting since I have contributed so much to my high school in grades/activities , it'll be interesting to see what happen.

unfortunately i don't live in philly nor attend the "biggest feeder to penn in the nation"

and there lies my pt jonkt, admissions isn't fair

Haha guys lets be honest, of course I didn't make the cut. Im not standing here ranting that I didn't get in because of some fluke. I probably didn't get in becauese my gpa or whatever was too low. But if theres a 1% chance it was because of my last second switch, thats 1% more than it is now. Call me idealistic, or tell me what I already know, I didn't get in haha.

I'm going to try what I can, and yah I know I'm defintely probably not gonna get in, but why not take the chance. What is there to lose? Nothing I was already rejected.

Forever I just tried to send you a pm, but your storage was full, ill try sending it later.

His SAT was a 1400 and gpa was like a 3.9 so it's not like he clearly doesn't have the stats. And if superazn thinks he has a shot just because he's got a connection why shouldn't anyone else?

Some girl from my school got in with lower stats then his.

grandfather was a millionaire though right?

Yeah, but I'm 99% sure she would have told me if gramps bought her way in. However, her gramps did invent the pacemaker and he has spoken at Penn a few times. But whatever, I don't want to talk **** about her.

Dude, Adam, you never post? you're not even a member? Guess you just didn't want me to know how crazy you were.

pretty much...plus my borderline racist posts.

damn adam, you have like your whole world here.

superazn, were you deferred or outright rejected?
