Appealing to UC Davis and UC Irvine?

Hey guys. So what are my chances of appealing to UC Davis and UC Irvine? Are appeals considered first? or waitlisted people?

I'm will be sending a letter of appeal, sealed transcript and three letters of recommendations (teacher, counselor and employer).

My GPA is 3.0 UW and 3.31 UC capped with about 6 AP/H classes, 10 including senior year.
GPA trend is about... (weighted)
F: 3.85/3.6
S: 2.8/2.9
J: 4.0/4.2
S: 3.7

SAT of 1710 and ACT of 26

I got all three of my letters to focus around my very strong business related extracirricular activies. New and compelling info will be elaborating on why my grades dropped sophomore year (death in family), how i recovered, and how I have been paying taxes for my business and won a few more medals at a regional martial arts competition.

What are my chances exactly?

Bump it up sirs!~

Unfortunately, in this competitive environment, it is probably less likely you would get into UC Davis. I have know of some applicants with similar credentials to get into UCI. Need a good hook.

Where else did you apply?

It really depends on your major. I applied for Computer Engineering in UC Irvine and I got rejected with better stats. It seems all the UCs gotten much more competitive this year.

I didn’t get into any UC (Only applied to D/I/B/LA). I’m really shooting for either Davis or Irvine. I applied for the Business Information Management major in the computer science school?

I’m not sure if it’s considered a hook but I went through a difficult time sophomore year (I tried to explain it in the letter the best I can) and I owned a very successful online business?

Is the BIM major popular? :(
