Couple questions here...

-Will UCSD like, hate me if I try and appeal?
-Is it worth it?
-Roughly, what's the process like? What do I need to do, basically?
-Do a lot of people appeal?
-Are those who appeal usually successful?

you would have to have a very good reason to appeal and really good stats. Look on the posts of some of the students who did not get accepted. If you feel you have a good chance go for it…who cares if UCSD hates you…they obviously did not show much love for you

if you got rejected, APPEAL… it will take you of your time, but in the end you still have a chance of UCSD accepting you. Don’t think about “Hmm what are the chances this will be successful?” or any of that stuff… A school you liked rejected you, now slap them in the face [lightly please, it’s UCSD] and tell them to re-read your work…

now do your research before you start writing the appeal, ask AP English teachers to read them over. Im not sure how your teachers are, but my AP Eng. Lit teacher told us that we should appeal no matter what and she will personally read them to make sure its a great piece.

and not to be mean or anything [it might sound like it]… the worst thing that can happen is you will be rejected again, and you already have been, so you can just step out and choose another college! [okay that does sound mean, Im really really sry. No hard feelings?]

Has anything changed between the time you applied and now? Like any significant research? You need to provide some compelling reasons why they should accept you.

Just wondering if anyone could post an example of an appeal letter. I really have no clue what the format should be like. My new information is that I earned the more prestigious award for basketball that is also kept in the school’s history.

that is a great accomplishment but I really dont think that is going to make a big difference. Most likely they already gave you points for being a varsity athlete. Are you planning on playing basketball at UCSD? Perhaps the coach can help you get in

thanks for the link

It’s more of an award for an all around player. It doesn’t focus on the statistics but more of the character of the player. Maybe I should use that and include what my first semester GPA was along with the classes I’m taking?
