So i got denied from temple.
I was and still am determined to go to that school.
In an additional essay i sent to them, i even went into detail about how i've bought their entire bookstore in apparel and have 3 decals on my car.
Although my GPA Is not extremely high, it is good and all of the classes i have taken have been honors, AP, etc. Also, i have a million extracurriculars and such. after crying for days, i called to ask if there was anything i could do about the decision and they stated that they couldn't go into detail but did say that my GPA had to be above a 3.3 & every single SAT section had to be above a 500, yet i just checked collegeboard which was updated for 2010's incoming classes, and it states that the middle 50% had SAT scores as low as 490. Which is what i received on one of my sections. Are there any ideas as to what i should do?

What exactly are your standings for g.p.a. and individual sat scores?

what major were you signed up for? I’ve never heard anything about having to have a 3.3. lame!

You didn’t have 500+ on each SAT section?

you didn’t get in? oh jeez. I got in with a 490, 500, 560 SAT and 3.02 GPA mostly honors and 2 AP’s and the AP’s I got a 2 on LOL. and I am out of state (maryland)… I guess I got lucky, They accepted me in a week too. I guess they liked my essay or something.

to be honest, I think it was the fact that you’re out of state gave you the edge…Temple really pushes diversity and loves out of staters. I’ve read that some have gotten in after just 2 days while i applied back in November and am still waiting a reply… (I live in PA btw)

We live in NJ and my daughter just found out that she was accepted. She was accepted two days after they received her completed application. Though her GPA is only 3.0, her SAT scores were very solid, well above the average accepted students. While this is her first choice, we will wait to hear from her other choices before finalizing anything. Being out of state might have made a different.

No, they just want your out of state money.

When you apply to a university for any academic position, I’d avoid talking about purchasing their branded apparel and products. Focus on your strengths, and how the university and program will help you achieve your goals. Talk about how you will contribute to the university.

Same situation as Felix’s daughter!
I got the Congrats envelope from them a few days after everything had been mailed in.
It’s my first acceptance, and now that I’ve been admitted I feel like it jumped up on my list of schools I’d like to attend =]

Stats:

GPA: 3.12 (or close to that)
SATs: 2060 (all above 600 when broken down)
Good reccommendation
Good essay
Great ECs
Volunteer Hours
Honors courses
OOS
Interesting(language-heavy) courses
Full/challenging courses for senior year

Tiffany, I’d bet a lot that if you were out of state that you would have been admitted, but they like having the out of state percentage =T

Congrats. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
