Appeals Process

Got into SFS early. I had an extremely despressing aid award. I already have an amazing merit ride at a top 12 but parents and I would still like follow through with the process.

Does anyone though how to go about doing this? Or how likely Georgetown is to reaward aid? I had a strictly need based award at Vandy as well in which my EFC was 18,000 (vs. 35,000 at GU). What are the chances of Georgetown looking at another school's need calculation and changing its own?

GU was my number one for a long time but their aid is such a bummer.

Phone Georgetown admissions (if you know who handles your geographic region, talk to that person), and tell them you’re an admitted student and you’re very interested in Georgetown, but the financial aid offer isn’t competitive. You won’t know until you try, but they may well be willing to improve the award (colleges certainly do that sometimes).

The admissions and financial aid offices are separate. It certainly can’t hurt to be in communication with the financial aid counselor assigned to you and go over the details of your situation. You can find a listing of the counselors here: [Georgetown University :: Office of Student Financial Services](http://finaid.georgetown.edu/contact.htm)
