appeals

when does the appeals committee inform the student of their decision?
is there any guarantee that they will tell us before may 1st?
does anyone have any idea what "new and compelling" information means? and like, any examples of what a strong/successful appeal would look like versus an unsuccessful appeal?

thanks a lot

Most likely a day or two after appeals if you send in yours now. It takes 3+ weeks for re-evaluation.

how to they tell their decisions? email? myberkeleyapp?

They tell you online, your rejection letter becomes an acceptance letter and you get that packet in the mail a while later.

what about for spring admits?
i sent my appeal in and they got it on thursday april 6th. i appealed to have my spring admission changed to a fall one.
if my appeal were granted, it would change the semester on myberkeleyapp page?
and if it were not granted, then there would just be no change?
i want to know when they tell us the result because i don't want to wait and wait for a change, not knowing that they did not grant my appeal.

btw, does anyone know the success rates for this kind of appeal?
i think i'm being foolishly hopeful... =(

thanks so much

Grade changes. Did your GPA go up as a result? Did you fill out all the grades correctly? TELL THEM.

Are you underprivileged? If you're not and didn't mention it on the application. DO IT NOW. They like underprivileged kids.

Did you take a recent SAT I/II? Did your scores go up? TELL THEM.

What are your senior grades? Are they way better than previous grades? TELL THEM. But make sure you explain what got you to improve and why you weren't doing as well before.

New leadership issues, or did you forget to mention past leadership? Did you win something recently? Lead something? TELL THEM.

Have you been having a secret coming-out crisis all through high school and you weren't ready to talk about it on your application? TELL THEM NOW. Talk about how Berkeley would be more accepting of you.

Any other thing which makes your academic profile look better or your life more difficult.
