appeals?

i have a friend who applied to csulb and received a rejection letter that said he wasn't "competitive enough." he had a 1440 sat score, decent sat iis and a 3.7ish gpa. we know a lot of people with much lower stats that got in, and because this was basically the only school he was really striving for, he's now planning on a community college. we're trying to get him to attempt appealing the decision. does anybody know if he has any chance of getting the decision overturned? or any clue as to how the appeals process goes?

This must be a mistake.

sounds very wrong...is your friend out of state?

with those stats why would he even want to go to csulb?

nope. friend, like me, is from socal, less than an hour's drive from lb. i'm not sure why he didn't even bother applying to ucs, i just know that he really wanted to go to lb. he did call the admissions office to get appeal papers sent, but i'm still wondering how his chances of getting that to work will go.

There must be a mistake...my S got in with same test score but lower GPA - very weird - he should definitely appeal...maybe even make a trip to lb and try to meet with someone in admissions...really sounds like a mistake to me

Tell him to call and find out the name of the person in admissions who is "assigned" to his area - heck...call the President's office ( Dr. Maxon is a really great guy!)- pull out all the stops - he's got nothing to lose!!!

There is absolutely no way that someone with a 3.7ish and 1440 got denied to CSULB. There has to either be a mistake or the student does not meet all of the subject requirements.

no, he definitely met all the subject requirements. we're all sure it's a mistake, but now that he knows his girlfriend won't be attending, he doesn't seem to give a ****. aiyyye.

i got into long beach with a 3.0 and 1280 sat. that is freakin crazy that ur buddy didnt get in.

wow so he only wanted to go there because his girlfriend was going to, and could have probably gotten into some good UCs... doofus :-/
