Appeals??????

i got rejected from all the UCs!
ACT 28
ACTII Spanish 750 Literature 470
GPA 4.5 (ELC)
EC: Ballet which is 24/7, dance teacher
and im hispanic and first to go to college

i dont know much about appeals but it wouldnt hurt to try it for UCI which was my 1st choice but im not going to get my hopes up

anyone know about the appealing business?

u got rejected from all UCs and ur ELC? lol.

i kno right…its a sad thang

bd…did you apply to any Cal States?

no i didnt

Did you apply anywhere else? Privates? Anywhere that you’ll be able to afford?

If you are in California, you can call your closest Cal State and talk to someone in admissions office. Explain your situation…rejections at all schools…what your ACT score was, what your GPA is…I assume you’ve met all the A-G requirements and (hopefully) then some. They will sometimes let a qualified applicant in even though it’s past the deadline. If you are closest to SDSU or Cal Poly SLO you might not get a break, but it’s worth a try.

IF YOU’RE ELC U GET AUTOMATIC ACCEPTANCE TO AT LEAST 1 CAMPUS

and you’re extremely qualified, ballet? UCI has a dance program, 28 ACT? that’s good!

I say you appeal, use new compelling info

I know how it feels to be rejected from all UCs, ( I was last year)

work your way through! Prepare to write that essay, get 2 recs (from dance teacher maybe?)

Remember, your appeal has to be NEW and COMPELING (anything u didn’t mention, maybe a hardship)

@bdgonzales:

If you’re Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) (your rank in the top 4 percent of their graduating class at a participating California high school), you will get at least one spot. Although each campus have difference criteria in selecting, all of them love to admit student with GPA over 4.0 plus 2100 SAT and ELC. It’s a reason the top students (ELC) always get early acceptance.

Ethnicity play NO role in consider your admission. Some campus award extra points if you’re the first member in family go to college.

Based on your stats, if you cannot get into any UC, you will be refer to the new campus UC Merced. If you don’t get anything, something is missing. And it’s really important to the school :-)

Something wrong here. As ELC you are guaranteed admission to a UC campus. At least, UC Riverside or UC Merced…(ask the rejecting UCs to refer you or call UCR or UCM direvtly and explain

Appeal to UCI and see…

Also, if not prepared to go to UCR or UCM, you cn go to CC and then transfer in a year or 2 with TAG to many leading UC campuses including UCI.

Good luck!

yea i applied to pepperdine and northeastern i got into northeastern but i cant afford it and the scholarship was not much help. Im going to appeal to UCI and tell them the new things that have happened since i sent in my application and basically get emotional haha----If the decision is still NO then ill be at Santa Barbara City College and transfer in 2 years…my education will not be deprived
thanks everyone!

Ill need the Luck!!

wow, im really surprised… sorry about that bdgonzalez, your stats look great.
You mustve forgotten something…
did you apply to UCR at all? because you would have gotten in… for sure
i mean… ELC? comeon… i think UCD takes 100% of their ELC applicants too, no?

bdgonzalez are you from SB?

How did you get rejected from all the UC’s when Berkeley hasn’t even announced decisions yet? (excluding the handful who discovered they were accepted)

I think the OP may be lying.

All the people in my school who were ELC’s got guaranteed admission to Irvine and Davis.
I highly doubt she’d get rejected from everywhere.

eh…a 4.5 gpa is freaking the max gpa for the UCs. That is RIDICULOUS. I find this a little difficult to believe.

Yeah I was thinking that too. Only people going into specialized schools would get rejected from UCI, UC Davis and the other lower campuses when they get ELC.

If this suppose to be a joke then its lacking humor.

yes i am from santa barbara to that person who asked and i have gotten rejected so far from all uc’s…not berkely yet  but i got referred to go to uc riverside and uc merced and i wish i was joking but im not. ive been having a real hard time with it

a 4.5 rejected from EVERY UC EXCEPT ucr and ucm
wow
u sure its a 4.5 not a 3.5?

Are you sure you sent in all your test scores? ACT and two SAT II’s? A similar situation happened to my friend who sent it to the wrong campus (University of San Diego insetad of UC San Diego) and he was denied admission even though I think he would have absolutely made it in with his stats.
