I am currently in my first semester of college. I am a computer science major. My dream place to work at is either Google or Apple. So, my question is how do I get an internship at Apple? Do you have to live in California to be able to land one?

Look at [this website](<a href=“Careers at Apple”>Careers at Apple). Most companies won’t pay you a flat for you to intern there, meaning you’d have to spend money for an internship, and that is either way, considering transportation costs. However, many companies would pay you, of course, but some don’t. Simply put, if you want to work in China, it makes sense to live in China and not in Norway, for example. If anyone would be able to land at an internship for any company from any location, your odds would be close to the limit of x as x approaches zero.

Submit a resume and see where it gets you. That’s the only true way to find out.

I dont think so.
Some of my friends (really talented CS students) got offers from Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Amazon, Google, etc, and most of them also got their living expenses reimbursed.

If they reimburse living expenses, why isn’t that mentioned anywhere? For the sake of demotivating people to rent an apartment in Mountain View, San Francisco or Cupertino, for instance? Very motivating.

You’ll get paid to work as an intern at a company like Apple. If you’re in a STEM type of field it’ll certainly be more than enough to cover living expenses plus socking some away for the school year.

You can get hired from anywhere, proximity isn’t really that huge of a deal, especially if you’re still in college (doubly so if you’re at a school they recruit from).

To the contrary, many Silicon Valley tech companies are really good about paying a very competitive wage to their interns. I can’t speak for Apple but I know that Google interns are paid. Facebook interns can make as much as $7,000 per month.

Racinreaver and Youradhere are correct- most of the technology companies pay their interns very well. Covering your housing cost should not be an issue. My S also got reimbursed for transportation and moving costs.

If you are at a school with a national reputation, they will be on campus recruiting for interns.
