I’d say maybe 70% of kelley students have a pc.

I know people who have gotten boot camp to run great, and I know people who can’t get boot camp to work at all and they spend hours in a lab or the library.

For my K-310 stats class, we needed to use a program to turn in the homework and the professor said on the first day that it isn’t compatible with mac’s. Everyone who had a mac did their homework the entire semester in a lab after class. A friend who is currently a senior never did any K201/X201 work on his mac computer; everything he did, he did in the wells library (he still loves his mac, but he doesn’t do anything for school except writing documents on it).

The school recommends a pc for business students, and even if you can get boot camp to work, there are so many wierd programs and add ons you need for various classes why even take the chance that something could go wrong.

Hmm, so if I get a PC I really don’t have to worry about software compatibility issues?

If I do get a PC, I’m think I would get the Dell Studio XPS 13" Laptop…would this be a good computer?

I would stay away from the Dell’s!!! I just got a brand new one (for business) and have had everything replaced except the hard drive. The motherboard, Keypad 2x, the screen, and the casing. The notebook was only 2 months old. I had a Thinkpad prior to that and had it for 4 years…never a problem.

I ordered the Lenovo Thinkpad for my son. It depends how much you want to spend but I would not go with a Dell.

My HP works great, but I’ve only had it for one year. I was able to customize it and get great specs for cheap (to get the same specs on a Dell would have been $400 more).

Price does not amtter so much in my decision.

What do you guys think of the HP G60?

[HP Official Store — Buy an HP G60 and G60t series notebook PC from HP](http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=+Everyday+computing&series_name=G60t_series)

I saw this computer at best buy and I liked the looks of it as well as the keyboard (has a numeric keypad which could be conveient for excel).

I plan on customizing it. What specs would be necessary to do well for Kelley homework/projects?

if you’re looking for specs…that computer is kind of weak. However, if you’re not going to use it for video editing or gaming than i guess its a suitable computer.

If you’re looking for a powerhouse and price for specs…go for

[Asus G51Vx-A1 15.6" FHD LED/Q9000 Quad Core/NV GT 260M 1GB GDDR3/4G/640G/DVDRW: GenTech PC Store](http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=G51Vx-A1)

Also. look at Lenovo Outlet, they sell New, Redistributed and Refurbished. The Redistributed is a really good deal some at 50% with high specs. You need to keep checking they get them in everyday and sell quickly. We bought a high end laptop (thinkpad t500) for less than 1,000 and it was $2,000 laptop. Lenovo is the old IBM (Thinkpad)

The company is 2nd to Apple in Customer Sevice and 1st in parts and returns. You can also extend the 1 year warranty.

Don’t get a mac in Kelley (which I think has already been established). It’s a huge pain in the butt, especially when it comes to group projects, which you have a lot of. I have an HP and I love it, I would get an HP laptop before a Dell one.
