Apple Student Discount

Has anyone used the student discount before? I plan on buying the macbook pro for this fall, and i was wondering how much the discount is. If i buy this online, will there be a tax( I live in CA)? If i buy it from the apple store, what will I have to show in order to prove that I will be attending berkeley this fall (I will be a freshman so I have no ID)?

bump......

Yes, I've used it plenty of times. I don't know if there will be a tax if you live in CA (there's one for me here in Georgia), so you should check that out with your particular state.

The discount is not much but goes up as the price goes up. For example, if you buy the Macbook pro, the price will go from $1,999 and $2499 (lower and higher end models of the 15", respectively) to $1799 and $2299. If you actually go into the store, they will need to see your college ID, but your local store may also accept and acceptance letter - you should check to see. If you buy it online, you do not need anything. For some schools, you must log in with your school ID and password. For others (like my school) you don't need anything.
