Your stats are great, but did you make clear in your app why UChicago is a good fit for you?

Most definitely... I talked a lot about the time I spent on campus when my dad and I were in Chicago, and how it all felt.

Specifically, did you make it clear that you have general academic curiosity and will get a lot of value from the Core? Your interest in Latin suggests that you will like a classical curriculum. If so, I think you will be very competitive.

I "don't believe in" chances threads, but your posts have made it clear that you've become smitten. My guess would be that your essays conveyed those growing feelings as well, and that can only be a good thing. Good luck in December.

Why, thank you! Also, will there be a way to see which components of my app are in?

toastmaster,
The admissions office will post a link where you can check your application for completeness around mid-November. (Caveat: This was the case last year when they still used the Uncommon App.) They need some time to consoldiate the paper submissions with the Common App, rec letters, scores, etc. The admissions folks are good about keeping the blog updated in this regard.

Last year they specifically said not to send in duplicates of things until they said it was OK -- it just generated even more things that needed to be filed and slowed down the process.

One may hope that with the sizeable increase in apps last year and now the switch to the Common App, they will have enough hands on deck to help deal with the mountains of mail that'll be coming into the office.

Also, I don't usually do chance threads, but if you communicated your enthusiasm for Chicago in your essays the way you have here, I agree with seashore that it can only help your prospects.

toastmaster, imo, ur a shoot in for UofC
